Algeria later beat Ivory coast (The tornaments favorates) 3 - 2 to advance to the next stage. Egypt cruised past camerron at extra time 3 - 1 after settling for a fulltime 1 - 1 draw. it is like the egyptian always have thier way over the indomitable lions of cameroons. Nigerian luckily advanced to the semi finals on penalty (5 - 4) after settling for a full-time goaless draw in a game completely dominated by the zambian team. the semi final paring goes thus

1. I will like to be straight here. all Nigerians know that Amodu cannot take Nigeria to stardom in the 2010 FIFA world cup in South Africa. it still puzzle me that a concrete decision have not yet been reached for a new couch that will take us to the Nation's cup and also the world cup.

Nigeria need not to pass through the heart breaks they have undergone previously during the qualification for the mundial. i will like my fellow patriots to tell who ever that can here that we need a capable couch to take us to the world cup 2010.

NIGERIA 5 - 0 NEW ZEALAND

The Nigerian Golden Eaglets yesterday white washed their New-zealand counter part with a five (5) unreplied goals to their favor. this thrilling performance has been the best for the young eagles since the start of this U-17 world cup.

The game ended with 3 goal from the first half and later two goal in the second half. the New zealand never gave good account of themselves in that match. It is the highest level of domestic football in Nigeria. It is fed into by the two First Division groups: the Nigerian Division 1-A and Nigerian Division 1-B. It is organised by the Nigeria Football Association. The Nigeria Footbal League (NFL) Chairman is Mr. Oyuiki Obaseki.

The league was founded in 1972 with six teams. The league was rechristened the "Professional League" in 1990 with a goal to modernize the game and make clubs self-sufficient. Decrees 10 and 11 which codified the introduction of professional football in Nigeria stipulated that professional clubs should be run as limited liability companies each governed by a regularly-constituted board of directors and required to hold annual general meetings, present independently audited accounts, cultivate youth/feeder teams and own their own stadia within five years of registration with the Pro League Department. To assist Pro League clubs in the timely achievement of these stated goals, all 56 professional clubsides that constituted the inaugural Pro League First and Second Divisions were granted a five-year tax moratorium on all income starting from 1990.
As of the 2002 season the league became known as the Globacom Premier League, due to sponsorship from the Globacom telecomunications company. From 1999-2007, there was an end of season Championship mini-league called the "Super Four". The top four teams would play a round robin at a neutral site to determine the league champion.
After the 2006 competition, the league changed its calendar to more closely match the common European regular season structure (starting around August and ending around May).

Past Winners
1972 : Mighty Jets
1973 : Bendel Insurance
1974 : Rangers International
1975 : Rangers International
1976 : Shooting Stars FC
1977 : Rangers International
1978 : Racca Rovers
1979 : Bendel Insurance
1980 : Shooting Stars FC
1981 : Rangers International
1982 : Rangers International
1983 : Shooting Stars FC
1984 : Rangers International
1985 : New Nigeria Bank
1986 : Leventis United
1987 : Iwuanyanwu Nationale
1988 : Iwuanyanwu Nationale
1989 : Iwuanyanwu Nationale
1990 : Iwuanyanwu Nationale
1991 : Julius Berger
1992 : Stationery Stores
1993 : Iwuanyanwu Nationale
1994 : BCC Lions
1995 : Shooting Stars FC
1996 : Udoji United
1997 : Eagle Cement
1998 : Shooting Stars FC
1999 : Lobi Stars
2000 : Julius Berger
2001 : Enyimba FC
2002 : Enyimba FC
2003 : Enyimba FC
2004 : Dolphins FC
2005 : Enyimba FC
2006 : Ocean Boys FC
2007 : Enyimba FC
2008 : Kano Pillars F.C.
2009 : Bayelsa United
